Ohio Pre-Criminal Intervention Program - March 2018
Webinar
March 28, 2018
As part of Ohio’s strategy to reduce prescription drug misuse and abuse, the Ohio Board of Pharmacy plans to use OARRS data to identify individuals who may be engaged in patterns of behavior indicative of substance misuse or abuse and who may be in violation of Ohio’s doctor-shopping law. Specially trained Board of Pharmacy agents, along with local treatment professionals and law enforcement, will engage the identified individual with the intention of connecting the individual to appropriate drug treatment resources or other support services. In addition, the Supreme Court of Ohio (SCO) plans to assist healthcare providers in better clinical decision-making for patients participating in drug court programs. The overall goal of this project is to utilize OARRS to support cross-system collaboration and data sharing between prescribers, law enforcement, and treatment professionals to reduce opioid misuse by implementing a pre-criminal intervention program (PCIP).
